WINTER NIGHT

Through the cold winter night
I held you a little closer
To keep you warm.
Your soft body melted into mine.
I almost forgot the howling of the wind
And the flying white
Outside the window.
With every rattle of the window,
You reminded me.
Of the blizzard
By seeking further the warmth of my body.

Your lips met mine in a warm
Thank you.
In return,
I tried to massage the worries
Of the day
From your back.
You soothed my ego
With simple words.
Soon, you had drifted into sleep
And I
Followed.
