Songs of the Storm King
STORMS

Storms are far more human
Than we care to admit.
Humans are conceived by the union
Of opposing natures: man and woman,
A storm by the conjunction of cold, dry air
And hot, moist vapours.

A storm is an active entity experiencing
Birth, youth, maturity, senescence
And finally death.

Following birth
A storm moves away
From its nativity;
Feeds on ambient aqueous fuels,
Depleting them of their latent energy and
Expelling the waste
To ground.

Storms grow; they mature.
A storm may reproduce
An offspring in its image.

When a storm dies,
The final chapter
Has been written,
Its life defined
By both its ancestors
And the environment in which it lived.

A few storms make the world
Sit up;
Take notice.
Their story will live
In history
human and natural.

But, most live out their lives
Noticed little by the world-at-large.

How human.
